New Moon in Virgo 30 August 2019 – new work projects

August’s second New Moon falls at 06°46′ of the sign of Virgo, on 30 August 2019 at 8:37 pm in Sydney (see chart below). In other parts of the world, it falls at 3:37 am in Los Angeles, 6:37 am in New York, and at 11:37 am in London.

New Moons are a time when the Sun and the Moon come together (called making a conjunction), and are a time to set an intention for the new emotional cycle ahead.

The sign of Virgo:

From approximately August 23 until September 22 each year, the Sun occupies the sign of Virgo, the Virgin or Maiden. Virgo has a Mutable quality or mode. The Mutable modality signifies the end of the seasons, when the weather is more in flux. Mutable energy represents flexibility, adaptability, versatility and changeability. Virgo is one of the signs which is also associated with the Earth element concerning stability, predictability, groundedness and practicality.

Some keywords for Virgo include: analytical, discriminating, orderly and effective. Virgoans can be quite focussed on sorting the “wheat from the chaff,” creating order from chaos, and with developing the skills and techniques of their craft. Virgoans however may be too fussy and perfectionistic and overly concerned with attending to details. Virgo is also associated with health, diet and exercise.

At the time of this New Moon, there are no less than 5 personal planets occupying the sign of Virgo! (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars). It is time to work to implement some of the Virgoan ideas and themes into our lives in an efficient manner. Throw all your desires and passions (Venus and Mars) behind them.

Mercury rulership:

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, whose energy is enhanced by being in its own sign at this time. Mercury is associated with communication, speech, language, writing, connecting with others, intelligence and the efficient use of information in its exchange and application. If you are working on a useful project involving information which requires diligence and productivity then it’s a great time to seed this intention to bring it to fruition.

Grand Earth trine:

Not only are there 5 personal planets in Virgo, but this New Moon is assisted by supportive, flowing aspects (called trines) from unique Uranus in Earthy Taurus, and structured Saturn in Earthy Capricorn, forming an aspect pattern called a Grand Earth trine, and reinforcing the theme of grounding your productive ideas and tasks into a practical, grounded, material reality.
