New Moons are a time when the Sun and the Moon come together (making a conjunction), and a time to set a new intention, planting a seed and goal for the new emotional cycle ahead. The New Moon makes an opportune sextile to Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn, asking us to dig deep, to find new optimism, growth and expansion, and to transform power struggles and structures which are outworn.

Warrior planet Mars finally stationed Direct in Aries on 13/14 November 2020 at 15°14′ degrees where he has been backtracking since 9 September 2020. Our plans to move ahead may have been constrained, delayed, on hold, stymied and frustrated over the past couple of months; where we’ve been going over old ground and cultivating patience. Now it is time to stop spinning our wheels and to forge ahead with passion instead.

The sign of Scorpio

From October 23 until November 21, 2020 the Sun occupies the sign of Scorpio, the Scorpion. Scorpio has a Fixed quality or mode. The Fixed modality signifies the middle of the seasons. Fixed energy is steadfast; these signs are routine, regular and have a sense of pattern. With Scorpio, imagine unabiding emotional depth and loyalty. Scorpio is one of the signs which is also associated with the Water Element concerning feelings and emotions, instinct and sensitivity.

Some keywords for Scorpio include: passion, resourcefulness and power. Scorpio is also associated with being determined, having staying power and strength of will, however complete transformation is connected with this sign; which can occur through crisis. Scorpio is linked to being secretive, jealous and possessive, unforgiving and seeking revenge – having a “sting in the tail.”

In traditional astrology, Scorpio is ruled by Mars, “the God of War.” Mars moving direct again at the time of this New Moon offers us the courage, drive and assertion to go after what we want in a pioneering fashion, even fighting for what we want in order to make progress.

In modern astrology, Scorpio is ruled by the planet Pluto. Pluto is known as “the Lord of the Underworld,” and represents transformation, the reforming urge, death, renewal and rebirth, regeneration, endings and beginnings, power and control, spiritual growth and the subconscious mind.  In the body, Pluto rules the eliminative and reproductive systems, the pituitary gland and abnormal growths (moles, birthmarks, tumours etc).
