The next Full Moon occurs on Sunday 27 September 2026, with the Moon at 03°37′ in the sign of Aries and the Sun opposite at 03°37′ in the sign of Libra, which is exact at 02:50AM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
You may need to convert the date and time details into your time zone, which can be done here.
Full Moons are a cycle of culmination, release and completion, and are at the peak of the Sun / Moon cycle. So, if you have any personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and/or Mars) or angles (particularly the ‘cross of matter’ – ASC/DSC (1/7 house cusps) and IC/MC (4/10 house cusps) between around 0 – 6 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) you may feel this full moon more intensely than others.
The sign of Aries:
Aries is a Cardinal sign, and the Cardinal modality signifies the changes of the seasons. Cardinal energy is initiatory; theses signs are action-oriented starters and like to, ‘get new things going.’ Aries is one of the signs (along with Leo and Sagittarius) which is also associated with the Fire element concerning inspiration, optimism, energy and animation. Some keywords for Aries include: initiative, action, drive and enthusiasm.
Arians themselves may be pioneering, courageous, spontaneous, impulsive, assertive, self-motivated, independent, direct, self-oriented and headstrong.
Planetary ruler Mars
Aries is ruled by the Warrior planet Mars. Some keywords associated with Mars include: daring, competition, anger, sexuality, being entrepreneurial, and active. Strong Martian types, or people with Mars dominant in their chart could display these tendencies (eg Mars in Aries (in Dignity) or Scorpio (Mars in its traditional co-Ruling sign), Sun in Aries, many personal planets in Aries (which are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) or Mars in the 1st house of personality (‘Accidental Dignity’). In the body, Aries rules the head, and Mars rules the blood, the adrenal glands, the genitals and represents our energy and stamina. People with a strong Mars are susceptible to ‘burn-out,’ anger, burns, cuts and scrapes, and possibly accidents.
Currently, Mars is making his final way through the sign of Cancer (its sign of Fall as Cancer opposes the sign of Mars’ Exaltation, Capricorn). Mars’ energy is therefore diffused through feelings and emotions; it is difficult for him to direct his energy forwards and outwards at this time. This can result in simmering frustrations and delays with plans not moving ahead, especially in the area of home and familial relationships (the area ruled by Cancer). It is not the time to initiate anything new but rather a time to ‘wind things up’ in the area of the horoscope Mars is currently residing in in your chart (see more on Mars’ transit below).
The sign of Libra
Libra also has a Cardinal quality or mode, and is one of the signs (along with Gemini and Aquarius) which is associated with the Air Element concerning the rational mind, sharing ideas, knowledge, communication, abstract reasoning, logic and speech. Some keywords for Libra include: balance, diplomacy, grace, peace-loving, idealism and being hospitable. Librans can also be quite co-operative, sociable, artistic and companionable, and make good negotiators and mediators, however may be indecisive and crave peace and harmony at any price.
Planetary ruler Venus
Libra is ruled by the planet Venus. Venus is associated with love and affection, partnerships, marriages and unions or emotional contracts, art, aesthetics, beauty, appreciation, sensuality, money, our sense of values, and pleasure. Strong Venusian types, or people with Venus dominant in their chart could highlight these tendencies (eg Venus in Libra (or Taurus) (in Dignity), Sun in Libra, many personal planets in Libra (which are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) or Venus in the 7 th house of the Other, business and marital partnerships, projections, agreements, open enemies and dealings with the public (‘Accidental Dignity’). In the body, Libra rules the kidneys, lower back and ovaries, and Venus represents our social urge for harmonious relationships and material security.
The Full Moon
The Aries-Libra axis highlights the tension and balance required between the ‘I’ or ‘me’ (Aries) and ‘You’ or ‘other’ (Libra). We can ask ourselves where we need to be self-sufficient, independent and autonomous, and where we need to co-operate, negotiate and compromise – but not at the expense of our own peace of mind or being in an enmeshed or codependent situation. If this is the case then we may need to reflect personally on where we need to assert healthy boundaries or even cut ties.
Ruler Mars is at the last or ‘anaretic’ degree (29°09′) of Cancer at the time of this full moon, the sign of his Fall, where his direct and immediate action and desire to sever and separate is therefore difficult to effect in a sign associated with emotional attachment and bonding. Mars at the last degree is more volatile, and also makes a tense square aspect to planetoid Chiron at 29°40′ Aries, where we may at last need to deal with and heal sensitivities and woundedness around our identity, repressed anger, and feeling emotionally defensive.
The Moon in Aries is conjunct diffusive Neptune (and applying to make a conjunction with practical Saturn), so a culmination in attempting to realise what is real and what is an illusion, and feelings of confusion may arise. With the current ‘hot’ emotions, clarity will be difficult to find, and we may be feeling impulsive, or even explosive, wanting to ‘lash out’ around potential conflict; then regretting it if we do. The Moon is also separating from a sextile with Pluto, and applying to a sextile with Uranus, reactivating the recent ‘Barbault’s basket’ aspects at around 4°. The bigger and longer-term patterns in your life that are developing and unfolding may also be highlighted at this time, bringing things to the surface to be released.
Venus is in the sign of her Detriment, Scorpio, and will soon station Retrograde (3 October), so darker emotional themes of jealousy, and sexual power and manipulation in relationships could arise – especially as she goes on to square ‘God of the Underworld’ planet Pluto in Aquarius 3 times. All in all, this is a tense, and possibly eruptive Full Moon.
