Change planet Uranus moved into the sign of Gemini today, 26 April 2026, at 10:51am AEST.

You may need to convert the date and time details into your time zone, which can be done here.

Uranus is known as the ‘Great Awakener’, and will leave the sign of Earthy Taurus and make its way through the communicative sign of Gemini by transit from today, for the first time in 84 years. It will remain in Gemini for the next 7 years or so until it completely moves on and into the sign of Cancer on 22 May 2033.

Uranus leads to change both in the collective, and in our own lives where we may feel unsettled, restless and have the impetus to move in a new direction. Exciting ‘shake ups’ of the status quo may occur in our lives, which can be self-imposed (or otherwise). We may also undergo a personal revolution, stepping into our own original, unique selves, moving towards freedom and liberation from repression and stagnancy to a more authentic, individual expression. This transit is about clearing the path forward, and letting go of your outworn mental patterns and beliefs about who you are.

Uranus also rules technology and invention, changes in thought and communication, and changes in science. These are congruent with the element of Air, and the sign of Gemini, as Gemini is an Air sign.

The sign of Gemini

Gemini has a Mutable quality (along with Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces). The Mutable modality signifies the end of the seasons, when the weather is more in flux. The Mutable energy represents flexibility, versatility and changeability. Gemini is one of the signs (along with Libra and Aquarius) which is also associated with the Air element concerning the rational mind, sharing ideas, knowledge, communication, logic and speech. Some keywords for Gemini include: intellectual, networking and quick-witted. It rules curiosity, collecting many pieces of information and generally knowing lots of things about lots of things!

Planetary rulership – Mercury

Gemini is ruled by the ‘winged messenger’ planet, Mercury. Mercury is associated with communication, speech, language, writing, connecting with others, being light-hearted and intelligent.

In the body, Gemini rules the lungs, nerves, arms and shoulders, while Mercury rules the respiratory system and the thyroid.

The planet Uranus

Uranus is associated with rebellion, disruption, shocks, freedom, originality, genius, science, electricity, astrology, being futuristic, and bohemian. In the body, it rules the nervous system, circulation, and the ankles. It also governs sudden and unexpected change. As the first transpersonal planet (ie beyond Saturn, the traditional boundary of the known Universe), it is considered a radical breaker of traditions and barriers.

Artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is an obvious manifestation of this transit, so it will be interesting to see how this area continues to rapidly evolve over the next 7 years in terms of the ways in which we conduct research, write and communicate. Information, networking and data systems will become more electric, more surprising and move like quicksilver. Stay curious and be adaptable and flexible.

Venus conjunct Uranus, Pluto in Aquarius

Relationship planet Venus moved into Gemini slightly prior to Uranus’ ingress, connecting change with pleasure, excitement and creativity, especially if relationships involve being on the same intellectual wavelength.

There may also be more social uprisings as this transit coincides with the (flowing trine aspect and) transit of Pluto through fellow Air sign Aquarius, where destabilisation, corruption, ‘power to the people’ and a focus on humanity and equality will be continuing themes until 2044. Pluto will move from Aquarius to Pisces in that year. Themes also arise around the control of information and who has the power to distort information to suit their own ends – think ‘fake news.’ People generally will also have more power to create and disseminate information.

These outer planets are just getting started with their Airy shifts in knowledge and communication, and continues the Air theme which commenced with social planets Jupiter and Saturn coming together in Aquarius in 2020 – and will continue to conjunct in Air signs every 20 years for the next 2 centuries.

Indeed, the winds have arrived, and they whisper ‘change.’
